What Are Acting Agents For?

Are you considering a career as a performance artist? If you are, then getting yourself an acting agent is the most important factor towards your career as successful artist. If it is really your desire to enter into film and television, probably the first step to take is to relocate yourself to Los Angeles where the heart of the acting scene is.

When you are there, you can easily find acting agents but before you get one, make sure you know what agents are and how your relationship with your agent works. Do not be scammed, as a beginner know that acting agents do not ask for any fees up front and do not require their actors to take any acting classes or any photographs to begin with. Its main job is to find an actor a work and when he gets a work for its client then the acting agent usually gets ten to fifteen percent of the income. All you should need to get start is a good headshot, an attractive acting resume format, and some solid experience under your belt.

There are actually two major types of television agents, a commercial and theatrical agent. Most actors find a commercial acting agent since these agents are usually looking for new actors and actresses and can help you in joining two important unions in the acting industry – SAG and AFTRA. After you have your own commercial agent then you can move on to making your own demo in cd’s and send it to theatrical agents who can represent you. Its job is to book you for any acting work in movies or any film.

Many actors think that they can make use of an average acting agent rather than having no agent at all, but remember as a beginner the more that you need to find someone that is quite reputable in the business for you to have a big chance of getting a good casting.

Many actors are under the assumption that a mediocre agent is better than no agent – but that is hardly the case. If you have an agent that does not have a very good relationship with casting directors (CDs), you are risking the chance of being blacklisted by certain CDs and ruining opportunities for future projects.

Foreign Artist Replacing Hindi Actresses?

The use of foreign actors in Hindi movies is increasing. Kites was a Bollywood movie that had a heroine who could not speak Hindi (gasp) or even English (gasp gasp). A few decades ago, this would have been the surest way to kill a movie.

Of course, Kites did not do well but critics agree that even the presence of a Hindi Actress would not have salvaged the movie. Another high profile movie which had a foreign artist was Rajneeti. Ranbir’s girl friend and conscience was an American character. Thankfully, the director decided to skip the boring option of using a Hindi actress as a replacement.

A critic cheekily suggested that Katrina could be described as the second foreign actress in the movie. Agreed, she has a terrible accent but public has accepted her and that is the end of the story. She has become one of the top heroines today and any hindi movie is certain to enjoy good publicity if it has this hindi actress in lead role.

Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards made guest appearance in Kambakht Ishq. However, their appearance was to add star value to the hindi movie and involved no real acting.

Use of foreign artists in songs and item numbers is also on the rise. The film industry is finally moving on to foreign artists after moving to lush and fancy locales of Istanbul, Switzerland and Australia. Some say that this is proof that the film industry is truly going global. Others prefer waiting for a Hindi movie starring foreign actors in meaty roles to become a box office success before arriving at such a conclusion.

There is a third group that is neither in favor nor against the inclusion of foreigners. According to them, the plot is paramount and any movie that has a good plot and sensible direction is going to succeed. They feel that focusing on whether the film stars a hindi actress or a foreign artist is farcical and is irrelevant to the success or failure of the movie. Sad if that’s the path we end up taking.

Senior Prank Ideas

Pranks are mischievous tricks played on a person, or group of people, with the intent to embarrass people or make them feel silly. There could also be a strain of cruelty involved in some pranks, although they are generally intended to be funny and light-hearted.

April Fool’s Day is a day dedicated to performing pranks in Western culture, whereas senior pranks have become a tradition, and are organized by the senior class of a school or college in order to cause chaos and leave a going away mark on the school.

The senior pranks are often planned very well out in advance, to avoid being caught or blamed. Usually the pranks on teachers are relatively harmless and funny, but in some cases it can be taken too far and damage to school property can be caused, and students can be arrested or fined.

Common senior pranks include putting small polystyrene balls in the air conditioning to make it “snow” in the school building, making prank public annoucements, or attracting lots of birds to the school parking lot by spreading bird seed around so that the birds make a mess on the cars.

Another common prank involves taking three farmyard animals, such as pigs or chickens, labeling them 1, 2, and 4, and letting them run loose in the school. This causes the staff to spend time searching for the animal labeled #3, which doesn’t actually exist.

In 2008, students at Brigham Young University handed out fliers saying that one of the dorm buildings was scheduled to be imploded on April 1. Hundreds of students gathered to witness this event, but to their frustration it never happened. The pranksters were never caught.

Students at school also often steal traffic cones and put them in unusual places, such as using the cones as hats for statues.

The Era of the Gangster

Let’s face it; Gangsters are cool. And it is not simply because they choose to disregard the rules and regulations set forth by local and federal law enforcement agencies. No! It is really much more basic that even that. Gangsters are popular because they dress extremely well and are not afraid of getting into trouble. They are the kind of men that every guy want to be and every woman wants to be with! read more »

Tamil Movie Actress Asin Thottumkal

Asin is a famous Tamil actress who is known for her best performance in the Tamil movie Gajini. She bagged the best debut award for the film in 2009. Apart from these she has to her credit several other coveted awards for her best performances in Tamil, Telugu and a Hindi movie. Though her acting career began in a Malalyalam movie, her second film (Telugu) Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi rocketed her to stardom and fame. From there on she has never looked back in acting career. She is currently very busy with a couple of movies in Bollywood.

Born to Syrian catholic parents in Kochi, she began her acting career at the age of 15. Her father was a successful businessman and mother a surgeon. Now her father manages her acting schedules and accompanies her to foreign locations. While her movie Gajini gave her great acclaim in Tamil movies, the same movie in Hindi brought her among the top heroines in Hindi as well. In Tamil she plays the lead role opposite Surya and in Hindi it is opposite Aamir Khan.

In Gajini she plays the role of a young side actress who job is to acts in commercials. She has big dreams and looks forward for bigger things in life. She falls in love with a business magnet but gets killed in the hands of a few thugs. She also displays great human nature by helping the needy. She bravely saves a girl from being sold to the sex racket. The thugs avenge this by finding her and killing her. Though the hero is injured seriously by trying to save her, he loses his memory and falls prey to a strange kind of illness. The movie revolves around how the hero takes revenge on the villains for their heinous act. Though her role is brief, the scenes which have her presence are full of energy. She has an extraordinary screen presence and portrayed the character to the fullest. We hope to see a lot more from this beautiful actress on the Tamil movie screen.
